Happy Birthday Frank! 100 years of Sinatra. Look for a Belated Birthday Celebration featuring music from my CD, Just One Of Those Things, Music Inspired by Frank Sinatra.
2016, this summer I'll be criss-crossing the US with Huey Lewis and the News, including some wild dates with Jimmy Buffett and an appearance at the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta.
2015 saw the release of Orphic Machine, an epic work composed by Ben Goldberg, and I was humbled to be part of an incredible band including Nels Cline, Ron Miles, Carla Kihlstedt, Greg Cohen, Myra Melford, Kenny Wollesen, Ches Smith and Ben. This work, filled with truth and beauty, is available through BAG Productions and all the usual outlets.
its looking to be a great new year, including shows in Italy in March with Four Now, and also with Claudio Angeleri.
2013 got rolling in december 2012 with the pre-release tour Unfold Ordinary Mind, the new project from Ben Goldberg, which i'm pleased to be a part of. this band includes Ellery Eskelin and myself on saxophones, Ches Smith on drums and Nels Cline on guitar. you can read the NY Times review here: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/12/arts/music/albums-by-pusha-t-and-ben-goldberg.html?emc=eta1

just a few words about what' been going on this year...
I've been extremely fortunate to be included in two important projects conceived by Ben Goldberg, the Orphic Machine and also a quintet recording session.
The Orphic Machine debuted in March at the Jewish Music Festival in Berkeley, followed by a show in LA at the Blue Whale. Its a large work for vocalist ( Carla Kihlstedt ) and improvising ensemble, a truly All-Star group in which I somehow found my humble self. You can find out more about it (including video ) at http://www.bengoldberg.net
Ben also included me in a session for an upcoming release on BAG Production records, a quintet date of all-new music by Ben featuring Ellery Eskelin, Ches Smith, Nels Cline, Ben and myself. Thanks, Ben.
This year also saw the first ( and hopefully not last ) performance by the Peter Zak-Rob Sudduth Quintet at Smalls in NYC.
I'm hoping to return to Italy later this year to perform with Claudio Angeleri and also with the project Four Now. And anyone else who will have me...
Best to you all. Rob
10.13.11new CD to be released
I'm happy to announce the imminent release of a new CD, of which I'm extremely proud. The project is called Four Now, which is also the name of the CD, and will be released by Philology Records in Italy.
The CD features Alberto Marsico on organ, Alessandro Chiappetta on guitar, Alessandro Minetto on drums and yours truly on tenor saxophone. The CD has original compositions by Marsico, Chiappetta and myself, as well as tunes by Horace Silver and Gene Ammons. Streaming tunes to be posted shortly.
These guys are amazing musicians, and I am fortunate to be working with them. The CD will be released shortly; look for an Italian tour coming up in 2012.
I've put up a new tune-- please go to "listen". its a rough, very rough recording from a gig in brooklyn last february with trevor dunn and tommy crane.
its gearing up to be a busy summer...just did a gig last night with the fabulous Brooklyn Boogaloo Blowout at the 55 Bar. Looking at dates for the trio project to perform at the Grand Dakar in Brooklyn in July, and focusing on recording that group whenever Trevor Dunn might be available...anticipating a stay in August in the Bay Area, plus a fair amount of travel with HLN. where does the time go?
10.03.08its about time
time for some news. its the tail end of a busy summer, including an all-together too brief trip to italy. i was guest soloist in bergamo, at the notti di luce festival with the notti di luci big band. along with franco ambrosetti on trumpet. under the direction of maestro gabriele comeglio ( who channelled johnny hodges ), we performed selections from duke ellington suites in a 14th century church.
other summer highlights include the recording of a new ben goldberg quintet CD, and a reunion of graham connah's sour note seven ( minus one ).
and i promise not to wait too long to put up another update
02.08.07new Norah Jones CD "Not Too Late"
i'm very happy to have contributed to the new Norah Jones release "Not Too Late". Norah and Lee brought Chuck MacKinnon and myself in to add horns on what is the first single, "Thinking About You". Its a great CD. You can download from iTunes. Or you can pick it up the next time you're buying a frappamochacino at you know where...
I just returned from a 2-week trip to Italy ( you weren't going to be there anyway), playing a series of concerts with Claudio Angeleri for the Bergamo and Ivrea Jazz festivals, as well as some club appearances.
